MRT Everyday

21.4.07 |

Like many Filipinos, the MRT is my everyday means of transportation. It is fast and the fare is somehow affordable. I didn’t know the statistics or the number of people who are riding the train but one thing for sure, I think the number of passengers exceeded the target of Metro Star.

It’s not new in Ayala station to see crowded passengers waiting for the train. And sometimes when the train comes, you cannot ride at it anymore because it is already fucking full. You will still need to wait for 2 or 3 more trains before you can finally ride at it. Almost all are going (or leaving) Ayala, Makati because it is the central business district. For some rich people who never like to commute in a public transport, the pictures below are for you especially for the current senator who was promoting the MRT before, saying that he was also riding the MRT! Do you know who he is?

Every time that I am going to the office, the train is very crowded and 80% chances are my long sleeves will be crumpled. The worst part is when the train’s air conditioner is not working or if the aircon is not that cool, OMG, you will get perspired, you will feel that you are about to be suffocated because of the smell of perspirations of others, because of the smell of various heavy perfumes and hair gels or pomades of older people. Sometimes when I will be riding at MRT, I am thinking that I will be riding again a ride at Enchanted Kingdom by not knowing if what adventure or disaster awaits me inside the train.

Anyway, despite of the MRT crowd, despite of the undisciplined Filipinos who are keep on stepping in the yellow lane, despite of the some angry times I got from riding the train, still I accepted all of those as part of life. It is not a problem or a big deal to me because generally I have more happy moments with my friends and officemates riding the train and also because I didn’t have a nice option but to still ride the MRT. In the end, despite of all my rants I can say that our life here in the Philippines are still happier compared to when we are in other countries.

Am I right?
