Publishers or bloggers were shocked when Google had early update the “Page Rank” (PR) of blogs and websites this January 2007. Some publishers were very happy seeing their two-months-old blog received PR4 or PR2. It was believed that through exchanging link activities, viral link or train link blog promotions, and constantly updating of blog articles that help publishers and or bloggers received a higher Google page rank in just a short time.

Many bloggers are getting crazy in increasing their Google page ranking because it is a factor for companies to advertise in their blogs. The higher the PR of a blog, the better it is for companies to be linked in their site. It is said that the page rank is a good indication that a blog has high quality, but the page rank will not totally increase blog or website traffic.

Many professional bloggers didn’t believe that Google page rank always matters. There were also instances that some blogs that had low quality are receiving PR5 or PR4. I check some of the most popular and top earner Filipino blogs and I found out that YugaTech blog had only a Google page rank 3 but had an Alexa traffic ranking of #22,599 and The Composed Gentleman or Talksmart had a Google page rank 4 but had Alexa traffic of #199,289. If both are compared to other not so profitable commercialize blogs that had PR5, PR4, and PR3, it will means that Alexa ranking is more powerful measure in terms of monetarizing blogs and websites rather than using Google page rank.
