I was in the office from 4pm (Friday) to 1pm (Saturday) yesterday, then I went home and sleep and when I woke up one of my condomates was watching The Binibining Pilipinas, The Pageant 2008 Grand Coronation Night hosted by Paolo Bediones, Charlene Gonzalez and Precious Lara Quigaman. When I watch it, the 10 candidates for the Q&A portion had already been picked. I was not that paying attention to the show as I am cooking food for my late dinner. However, I can still clearly see how each candidate answered in the Bb. Pilipinas 2008 Q&A portion.

It’s so funny when one of the candidates, the #15, Janina San Miguel, didn’t know what to say or how to express her answer in the Question and Answer portion. However, she confidently says something like “Family is important, ah ah… Sorry! Sorry! Oh no. Sorry! I’m only 17. And this is my very first pageant. Im not really expecting that I will be included in the top 10. Oh my God! But as I first said before, family is important”. My goodness! She was so confident! It was like she was only answering a noon time show beauty contest question. LOL! Another portion that gets my attention was when I saw the very pretty Marian Rivera. Wow! She was very simple and elegant in that evening. She gave question to the very tall and smart candidate #13.

Anyway, here are the winners of Bb. Pilipinas 2008:

Bb. Pilipinas International – Patricia Fernandez

Age: 22 years old

Speech communication graduate

Why did you join? “In 2006, a local pageant was the subject of my thesis. It opened my eyes to this industry. Now I really want to get the chance to represent the country.”

What makes you stand out from the rest? “I am very determined, and in this setting, I know that someone with great determination will really make good. I am also a fun and exciting person with a very colorful and versatile personality.”

Bb. Pilipinas World – Janina San Miguel

Age: 17 years old

Mass Communications student at University of the East

Why did you join? “To gain a lot of experiences, new friends and opportunities” “Bata pa talaga ako, dream ko na ito talaga. Nakikita ko sa TV and I think it’s a nice experience. I knew then that I would try it.”

What makes you stand out from the rest? “My confidence and my personality, even if this is my first time in a big pageant. I was first runner-up in Miss UE.”

Bb. Pilipinas Universe – Jennifer Barrientos

Age: 22 years old

Took up Tourism in the University of Sto. Tomas, from San Mateo Rizal, previously worked in Holiday Inn and Macau Star World Hotel

Why did you join? “It was my mother’s dream and now it’s mine.” “This will also help me achieve my other dreams such as being a model for high fashion magazines and fashion shows.”

What makes you stand out from the rest? “I always do my best. I know how to stay calm in a tight situation. My looks are also different. Many think I’m Indian but I am pure Filipino.” “I come from a Christian family so I really value my relationship with God.”

Jennifer Barrientos will represent the country in the Miss Universe 2008 pageant, which will be held in Vietnam; Patricia Fernandez in the Miss International 2008 pageant, which will be in Japan and Janina San Miguel in the Miss World 2008 pageant, which will be held in Ukraine.
